This plate is made by ram-pressing pulverizing earth toned clay bodies into shape. The surface is tooled with handmade wooden ribs to create opportunities for the clay to fracture, crack and respond to the stress and tension of the heat of the firing. The plate is fired in oxidation to 1232°C. Each plate has its own primitive qualities and embodies the bare essentials of life and artistic expression.
